The 20-minute exercise

  1. 0–5 minutes

    Choose a real role

Read one job posting. Pick three important tasks or requirements, then write down genuine work, OJT, coursework, or volunteer evidence for each. Leave a gap visible when you do not have the experience.

  2. 5–12 minutes

    Write two specific bullets

Use an action, task, tool or method, and a supported result or purpose. Explain your own contribution in team work. Add a number only when you can verify it; a clear task is enough when a measure is unavailable.

  3. 12–17 minutes

    Make an editable draft

Choose a relevant example below, or begin with a blank resume. Replace the fictional content and contact details. Keep employment, internships, and projects labeled accurately.

  4. 17–20 minutes

    Review before sharing

Check names, dates, links, spelling, and the format requested by the employer. Read the exported text in order and confirm fields after an application upload. Ask a peer to check whether each claim has evidence.

From requirement to evidence

Example requirement: keep customer records accurate. Real evidence: a coursework survey spreadsheet you checked for missing responses. Draft bullet: “Checked incomplete responses in a class survey spreadsheet and documented the corrections for the project team.” Keep the coursework label visible.

The worksheet has space for the requirement, your real evidence, a draft bullet, and a check of what you can explain. Keep personal details in your own copy; you do not need to send it to Resumiq.

Choose a relevant starting point

Each example includes a complete fictional resume, writing choices, and an editable draft. Use the structure and replace the facts.

The final-file checklist

  • The target role matches the work I want to apply for.
  • Every tool, achievement, employer, and qualification is accurate.
  • School, volunteer, and practice projects keep their original context.
  • Client or employer information is shared only with permission.
  • My contact details and public portfolio links work.
  • The exported document follows the application instructions.

For a deeper review, read the PDF and Word checklist or compare wording with the keyword scanner. A keyword match is a drafting aid, not a prediction of hiring decisions.
