What belongs on a first-job resume?
Start with a list of things you have actually done: an internship task, a school project, a student organization responsibility, a part-time job or help with a family business. Beside each one, record the tools you used and the work you personally completed. This inventory is more useful than beginning with a list of impressive adjectives.

Worked example: an OJT task for an administrative role
Suppose the posting asks for spreadsheet updates, document organization and attention to detail. The applicant maintained an attendance sheet and organized scanned records during OJT. This is an illustrative rewrite, not a real candidate or a reported hiring result.

This explains the task, names the actual tool and describes the output. It does not add advanced Excel, payroll ownership or a percentage improvement that the trainee cannot substantiate. If the applicant only entered data, they should not claim they built formulas.
Worked example: a capstone project for a junior developer role

Use those bullets only if they describe your contribution. A team project is useful when you say which component you built. Link to a repository or demo you are allowed to share, and remove passwords, private records and school or client data before publishing.

Philippine application details to check
- Read the vacancy requirements for location, shift, language, licenses and work arrangements; resume keywords cannot replace eligibility.
- For English-language postings, write clearly in English. Add Filipino or another language when relevant and when it reflects your real ability.
- For a general private-sector resume, our practical default is city or province rather than a full home address, and no photo or extra personal details unless the employer requests them.
- A government vacancy, regulated profession or school OJT program may require a prescribed form or supporting documents. This outline does not replace those instructions.
- Use a professional filename such as YourName-AdministrativeAssistant.pdf and check the required file type before uploading.
Final review before your first application
- Select the two or three requirements you can support with your experience.
- Move the most relevant OJT or project examples earlier.
- Check dates, degree status, job titles and tool names.
- Export the file, copy its text into a text editor and inspect the reading order.
- Ask someone to read it, then review any fields the application portal fills automatically.

Can I include OJT as work experience?
Yes, include relevant OJT under an internship or experience section, with your actual trainee title and dates. Clearly distinguish training from permanent employment.
What if I have no OJT or paid work?
Use projects, coursework, volunteering or student responsibilities that show relevant skills. Explain your own contribution and label the experience accurately.
Does every Philippine resume need a photo?
There is no single rule for every employer. Follow the vacancy instructions. Our default for a general online application is a clear text-based resume without a photo unless requested.
